Open communication is so important but is also such a challenge. Being open is being vulnerable and honest.
Having an honest open conversation can take place over a coffee or a cuppa. Sometimes it needs to be more formal and at other times just a corridor conversation can bring comfort and a feeling of support to colleagues and friends.
In a coaching or mentoring role open communication is crucial and without it there will be a lack of trust and no chance for personal growth or development. Much of a coaching role is to enable the person being coached to realise that they already have all the resources they need. Being able to be open and truly listen in order for the dialogue to allow realisation is what is desirable.
